Size: 30,665 acres

Location: The Alagnak River flows from Kukaklek Lake in Katmai National Preserve, situated in the Aleutian Range in southern Alaska. 

Description: The 69-mile stretch of river provides unparalleled opportunities to experience the wilderness of the Alaska Peninsula.

Activities: Scenic and whitewater rafting, sport fishing (rainbow, sockeye, king salmon, grayling), wildlife viewing, primitive camping.

Getting there: Charter flights are available from Anchorage and King Salmon or access is via power boat from any of the villages along the river.

History: The Alagnak Wild River was authorized on December 2, 1980.
