Location: Fort Caroline National Memorial is located along the Saint Johns River, 13 miles east of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Memorial is a unit of Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve
Description: Two centuries of French and Spanish colonial rivalry in North America began here with the establishment of a French Huguenot settlement in 1564-1565.

Hours: The visitor center and grounds are open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily;
closed December 25, Thanksgiving, and New Years Day.
History: Authorized on September 21, 1950.
