Email Your Guide to US National Parks

If you have any specific questions about national or state parks, please feel free to email me at usparks.guide@about.com and I promise to get back to you within a short time. Since I tend to receive many of the same types of questions, before sending your inquiry, please take a look at the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section below. The purpose of this section is to address the most commonly asked questions or to point to a place on my site or elsewhere on the Net where the questions can be answered. Also, please feel free to e-mail with suggestions or comments on the site in general or on topics you'd like to see covered in the future.

Post to the Bulletin Board

This is the ideal place for you to share your knowledge and experience with others, ask questions, discuss your favorite parks, or talk about important issues facing our national or state park systems. I check the Bulletin Board regularly, so I hope you'll take the time to come in, look around, and share your experiences. If you're new to Boards, see these FAQ's for common questions.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. How can I find information about a specific US national park?

A. You can use my national park locator to find parks by name, by type of park, by state, or by recreational activity. You can also find parks that are specially designated Biosphere Reserves or World Heritage Sites.

Q. How can I obtain information from travel and tourism offices or park agencies for the states I am planning to visit?

A. I maintain a list of state travel and tourism offices and state park agencies for all 50 states. Almost all of these organizations offer free information packets, travel kits, and other material useful for planning a trip.

Q. I'm interested in finding out what educational programs are being offered by national and state parks and other related agencies.

A. Take a look at my page on educational resources. Here you'll find information on the Parks as Classrooms Program, electronic field trips, environmental and outdoor skills programs, and teacher lesson plans suitable for all different grade levels.

Q. What jobs and volunteer positions are available at national and state parks seasonally or on a full-time basis?

A. Check out the job or volunteer page, where you'll find links to full-time and seasonal jobs, internships, volunteer programs, and summer camps positions available through the National Park Service, the USDA Forest Service, the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and other agencies and organizations.

Q. Where can I find information about a particular conservation or environmental organization or program?

A. Apart from my page on federal resources, there are three main lists that include links to more than 200 park and conservation organizations and programs; each is arranged alphabetically. These include aquatic resources, park organizations, and wildlife protection.
